Post Beyond: An Overview

Updated: 23rd January 2019

On the 1st March 2019 Frontier announced that whilst there would be a wait until the second half of 2020 before the next major milestone is released, they would be releasing smaller content updates until then. A brief overview of these can be seen below. The title and content of this and other pages will be amended to reflect the names and details of these updates as and when they become available.

> Overview

Frontier previously commented,

“In addition to the weekly and monthly activity happening in Elite, we will also be releasing a series of updates roughly every 3-4 months. The first two of these updates will primarily focus on new player and welcoming experiences, and we will also be introducing a number of quality of life improvements for the entire player base, of which we will have more news on in the coming weeks. This will help ensure that new players are able to better progress through the game, and therefore help bring more players through to our very awesome, very welcoming community. We will also have additional game tweaks, benefits and bug fixes for all players. In the subsequent updates we will be focusing on bringing in new features, perks and content, including a range of exciting new additions to the game that will build up to this new era.”

“It is important to note that these updates will not take the same level of content or size that we have seen from our previous updates in Beyond or Horizons, as the majority of the development team will be focusing on the new era.”

Elite Dangerous has an incredibly passionate, enthusiastic and talented community, and we’re committed to supporting Elite now and for the future. We would like to take this opportunity to say, once again, that none of this would be possible without the continued support and dedication from our community – so, thank you. Keep sharing your feedback with us, and if you have any questions feel free to share them with us by posting in this thread. We’ll try and answer as many of them as we can.

> Interstellar Initiatives – The Galconda

> Released: 8th November 2019

Greetings Commanders.

The ancient generation ship, The Golconda, has been discovered drifting amidst the stars. Contact with the ship’s living occupants has revealed that their ancestors chose to remain aboard their ship rather than colonise their original destination. The equipment originally intended for setting up a planetary settlement was cannibalised for materials but now… the Golconda’s crew find themselves in need of outside assistance for the first time in a millennia.

Efforts are underway to support the residents of The Golconda, but both the Federation and the Empire look upon this colossal relic with opportunistic eyes. There’s a political play to be made here, and the winner stands to benefit greatly.

For this next Interstellar Initiative, we’ll be detailing what’s at stake over the next few weeks. It’s time to back a side, and win!

> January Update

> Released: 14th January 2020

The January update was released on the 14th January 2020 and consisted largely of bug fixes alongside some other small quality of life improvements such as additional background simulation states. You can read the patch notes here, or more details of the patch content, here.

“As mentioned in October, our upcoming updates will be almost exclusively focused on addressing recent and longstanding issues and bugs. The next update will be our first step as part of that – and it will be coming towards the end of January.

“For this update, our first and foremost priority is to ensure that everyone is able to have a seamless experience when playing Elite Dangerous, so our focus will be on aiming to resolve game breaking bugs and stability issues that cause disconnects, softlocks and crashes. By working internally with Customer Support, QA and Development teams, alongside the feedback you shared with us here and via the Issue Tracker, we’ve identified and are addressing a number of issues in the January Update, which we’ve detailed here. You can find Beta information on the forum, here.”
