    • The mission title has been updated to better describe the task of the mission (it no longer says “data link data link”) – Not the same case as ‘New York New York’. This one wasn’t so good that we had to name it twice, it was purely an error.

  • Alioth system permit will now be offered after obtaining friendly status with the Alliance – Issue ID 60974

  • A fix has been implemented for a crash that could happen if an unexpected communication with the server occurred, just before engaging your ship’s hyperdrive.
  • Ship shields now reform to their current recharge level when re-entering normal space from supercruise.

  • Fixed duplication of nav panel distress signal after Commanders would disembark and re-board their ship.
  • A fix has been implemented to address the inability to increase listing prices of high value items by more than 5% in Fleet Carriers.
  • Search & Rescue ships will no longer attempt to use repair limpets on damaged ships that are flying too close to the surface of a planet for them to confidently reach.
  • Thargoid ships will no longer get stuck outside Starports because they are trying to engage targets trying to seek safety on the inside – They’ll let you off, basically.
  • Thargoid Scouts no longer fly away too quickly when dropping off new Revenants – I actually see no problem with Thargoids flying away from me too quickly but we cater for all here, where we can.
  • A fix has been implemented to address a situation where interdictions during multi-crew sessions could sometimes become stuck.
  • Hatch breaker limpets will now take better account of their target’s velocity.

  • A fix has been implemented for the French translation of damage types in the outfitting UI.

Update #16 – Release Notes

On the 1st August 2023 Frontier released Update #16 for Elite Dangerous. You can see the patch notes below, on the official website here or linked in the patch notes section of this website.

  • The Thargoids will, as of this Thursday’s maintenance ‘tick’ ahead, retreat from any system when their hold on that system is defeated. Previously this would only occur for Invasion systems.
  • In honour of the late Michael Brookes, a new organisation has been added to the game, Brookes Galactic Tours.
  • You can now find their adverts in most markets and their new megaship, The Legacy, which can be found in Artemis near Freeholm.
  • Brookes Galactic Tours has also established a new mini-series of tourist beacons to a handful of fantastic locations, the first of this series begins at the beacon at Freeholm. We hope you enjoy exploring and will take a moment to pause and enjoy the wonder that Mike helped bring to the universe of Elite.
  • Release fees for impounded ships that are not the player’s current ship can now be paid (Ticket Reference: ID 59548)

  • Fix for POIs spawning in locations they shouldn’t, on undiscovered planets (Ticket Reference: ID 39180)

  • Fix for being able to only accept one squadron application at a time (Ticket Reference: ID 30862)

The decision was made to do this in consideration that some things are rare but have a relatively low price; this means that Commanders will now be able to sell them at a price that is worthwhile for the effort they went to, to acquire them.

  • Various optimisations for loading some sections of audio have been made.

  • Found and fixed some duplicated materials on the advanced multi-cannons, to help with optimisation.
  • Added some new cup props to certain social areas (which are technically “zero-g” environments) to mostly avoid the issue of having un-capped beverages in these areas – Bringing you optimised immersion, 3309. No more panic over hot drink spillages.
  • Fixed schematic model for the subsurface mining missile so that it is now visible.
  • Added support for various consoles to be pushed into an offline mode for deserted settlements.

  • Transport missions for Thargoid War-affected ports no longer request non-essential commodities.

Update #15.02

On the 5th June 2023 Frontier released the update patch #15.02. You can see the notes below, on the official website here, or in the patch notes section of this website.

  • Fixed some unintended changes to ship flight characteristics in situations where rotational correction was active.

  • The Frontline Turrets that protect ground troops have had their repair timer increased to 10 minutes (up from 2 minutes).
    • Note: The dev team felt that the existing 2-minute timer did more harm than good by preventing interesting interplay between ground and air units at conflict zones around settlements. This change will now allow Commanders with suitably equipped ships to make a conscious choice between continuing to avoid drawing the fire of the turrets or to actively engage them in order to open up a window of opportunity for ground engagement or assaults on dropships.
  • Fix implemented for a crash that could occur when opening the Livery UI.
  • Fix implemented for a crash that could trigger when opening the Squadron Allegiance UI.
  • Fixes implemented to address several crashes that could be caused when coursing around Thargoid Maelstroms.
  • Fix implemented for a crash that could trigger when dropping into a Thargoid Maelstrom in multicrew.
  • Slight adjustments have been made the tactics used by various Thargoid vessels, so that they don’t become ineffective at dealing with targets in locations that ship won’t willingly navigate such as the crevasses along the structure of a Titan.
  • Fix implemented for Reboot Missions failing if a player logs out and loads back in.
  • Fix implemented for plasma weaponry not dealing the correct damage to Thargoid Revenants.
  • The galaxy map icon for the Maelstrom systems has been updated to that of a ‘Titan’ icon.

  • Fix implemented for the Glaive occasionally clipping into the Titan during combat.

  • Softened the extreme colouration of the Pulse Wave Xeno Scanner’s highlight effect.
  • Thargoids will stop appearing for the remainder of an Invasion once it has been successfully repelled.
  • Fix implemented for Defend Missions failing to start at mission location.
  • Fixed Human Scavenger NPCs occasionally appearing in Thargoid-occupied systems and even more rarely, Thargoid Revenants sometimes appearing in locations in the post-Thargoid Recovery state.
  • Fix implemented to address issues where some Thargoid vessels became stuck when attempting to enter the Titan.
  • Fix implemented for the Glaive occasionally getting stuck on asteroids in the Titan location.
  • Fix implemented for units rarely not showing up at Titan location in multiplayer instances.
  • Fix implemented for Scavenger Maverick Suit mismatch between thumbnail and suit (this is the one where they all had white grey helmets on the livery icon but they’re actually all white once equipped in game).
  • Fixed the Revenant’s weapon audio cutting out abruptly at range.
  • Fix implemented for missing Shipkit icons in livery:
    • Cobra MKIII Cyclops Bumper and Wings.

  • Fix implemented for Festive lights and Warm White Light glow being desaturated (the party is back on!).
  • Fix implemented to address an error that could generate when checking commander name entries for duplicates.
  • Fix implemented to address a disconnect when a Commander would try to reset to orbit, when they don’t yet have their starter ship.

Update #15.01

On the 18th May 2023 Frontier released patch #15.02 addressing a number of issues following the release of Update 15.

  • A fix has been implemented so that the Caustic Sink Launcher can now be engineered.
  • Scouts are no longer acting with excessively increased firepower.
  • Propulsion Elements have been added to caustic generator loot.
  • Selecting a group of fleet carriers in the System Map now shows the Fleet Carriers tab of the Points Of Interest panel.
  • A fix has been implemented to address inconsistent turret fire from the Titan.
  • Scenarios have been rebalanced in order to improve chances of which the Orthrus or Thargoid Probes can be found.
  • A fix has been implemented for a crash that could trigger when disembarking at Unknown Surface Sites.

  • A fix has been implemented to address instances where Ship Launched Fighters would take excessive damage from Glaive missiles.
  • A fix has been implemented to address instances where Ship Launched Fighters would become targeted for Containment Missiles, by the Glaive.
  • Thargoids are no longer able to get themselves potentially stuck when investigating canisters
  • A fix has been implemented to address a large invisible wall in the large ship landing pad at The Beach Engineer base.

A successfully prevented Invasion will now be better reflected within the game world.

Upon the Invasion’s defeat, a notification will be sent to all present Commanders, Thargoids will stop appearing at conflict zones and most conflict zones will subsequently dissipate.

Interdictions will cease and signal sources caused by Thargoid attacks will come to a stop.

The HUD has also received some minor changes for when Commanders are present in a defeated Invasion system and on the pre-jump warning towards that system.

Commanders, you may experience an issue whereby after gaining a bounty on your ship (with a warrant being issued on the ship), if you then hand yourself in at an on-foot concourse terminal, a Scarlet Krait connection error will occur on respawn at a Detention Facility.

  • If you re-enter the game after the Scarlet Krait connection error, you will be able to resume gameplay without further connection errors or blockers. However, the ship with the warrant on it will be impounded, which in turn warrants a release fee payment to free it.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE ISSUE ABOVE:

If you gain a bounty on your ship (with a warrant being issued on the ship) and then hand yourself in via Local Services whilst remaining in ship (instead of at an on-foot terminal), this issue does not occur, and you will respawn at the Detention Facility, in ship.

Major Feature Rework

Frontier had previously announced a major ‘rework to one of the games major features’. But on the 23rd March 2023 it was revealed that this was being put on pause for the time being.

“Last year we announced a major update that would rework a long standing feature. This is still being investigated, however a number of changes (not least the Thargoid War itself) have required our attention as a priority. We will share details of this investigation and our plans towards the end of this year.”

Thargoid War Balancing

On the 16th March 2023 Frontier announced some small balancing changes as part of the weekly tick changes on the server.

As part of Discovery Scanner this week, we alerted you of some forthcoming balance adjustments, in relation to Thargoid War activity, to better reflect recent player actions and feedback.

These will be incoming as part of tomorrow’s routine maintenance tick.

  • Previously unpopulated systems that are now under Thargoid Control or Alert states will be easier to push back.
  • Thargoids will deprioritize expanding into unpopulated systems.
