Odyssey: Additional Hotfix

A supplementary hotfix has been rolled out following the #12.01 release earlier in the day.

We are imminently deploying a fix for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Commanders to address the following issue that was introduced with hotfix 12.01 earlier today:

  • Typing within the comms menu, as well as typing within the Galaxy map and other areas of text entry within game, currently fails to override Commander keybinds.
    • If you were typing messages/chatting to fellow Commanders or searching for locations in game and had actions bound to specific keys you were using to type with, the bindings associated with those keys would still inflict the actions associated with them.

As you can imagine, downtime is at an absolute minimum for this one.

One additional known issue to be aware of, which was not previously posted in the 12.01 notes:

  • Scatter rocks will appear ‘flat black’ on terrain after using full screen UI.

Odyssey: Hotfix #10.03

On the 14th February at 2:30pm Frontier released a very small hotfix to sort out some random crashes in the game. The post can be seen here or below.

Greetings Commanders,

Today at 15:30 UTC, we’ll be releasing a small hotfix to Elite Dangerous: Odyssey in order to address some stability issues within the game.

There’s no expected downtime associated with the hotfix but it’s always wise to give the servers a few minutes to get back up to speed!

Odyssey: Hotfix #10.02

At 10.24am on the 3rd February 2022 Frontier released another small hotfix for the Odyssey update. You can see the detail on the official site, or below. The Patch Notes section of this website has links to all patch notes for every single release.

Don’t forget if you can spare a penny for a fellow Commander you can donate via BuyMeACoffee. Any donation is appreciated. Thanks to those who have already done so.

Updates of note:

  • A number of fixes to address stability issues have been been implemented.
    • Some of these fixes contribute further to tackle the plight of crashes encountered when loading Odyssey from the main menu.
    • Further code stability support fixes have been implemented.

Odyssey Hotfix: #10.01 – Patch Notes

At 12:02pm on the 1st February 2021 Frontier released the #10.01 hotfix. The patch notes can be seen below or on the offical site here.

Greetings Commanders.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Commanders will today recieve a Hotfix to address a number of key mechanic and stability issues, arisen since Update 10. Odyssey only servers will be offline from 12:00pm UTC with minimal downtime required.

Updates of note:

  • A fix has been implemented for the HUD failing to update when the SRV would collect cargo.
    • This is where you would need to relog to continue to make further collections.
  • A fix has been implemented for the SRV only being able to pick up one item at a time when transporting cargo.
  • A fix has been implemented for deceased NPC bodies blocking reactor consoles at some settlements.
  • A stability fix has been implemented.
    • This one will be of interest to Commanders who are currently struggling to progress through the main menu before encountering a crash.

Odyssey: Hotfix #4

At 11am on the 11th January 2022 Frontier released a server side hotfix to address some bugs as well as releasing some news about the tracking of other existing issues. These can be seen on the offical forum, or below. As always updates will make their way to the patch notes section of this blog. Note: Frontier named this as a “Hotfix”, but it is listed here as Hotfix #4 as there are previously been three other hotfixes before this one.

> Updates of note

  • Unable to edit fire groups.
    • If your ship had modules that fell under the Utility category, you were unable to set your fire groups because navigation within the fire groups tab did not work.
      • IMPORTANT NOTE:
        • As outlined here in our previous catch up, please prepare to reassign your firegroups for all ships once the hotfitx is applied.
          • Once again, really sorry for the inconvenience of this.
  • Multi-Limpet Controller Module Mass is too high.
    • Following reports from Commanders, it was agreed that the mass of the multi-limpet controller module needed to be addressed and dropped quite significantly. This was fixed for Odyssey, however the fix remained outstanding for Horizons only players. This is now addressed across the board.
  • Clearer indication via UI when reward modules will/will not allow experimental effects.
    • It will now be clearer for Commanders to identify whether their newly acquired CG Reward Modules can be further modified, via the modifications UI panel.
  • The Class C Operations Multi Limpet Controller was incorrectly showing as Class F.
    • This has now been addressed for Horizons Commanders.

> Known Issues

I’m going to reuse my latest one here from the last catch-up thread again, plus a couple of additional notes and points collected since.

  • Credit Balance Not Updating On Ship System Panel When Performing Any Balance-Changing Action (Buying/Selling Commodities, Missions etc.) Until After Relog.
    • Checked internally for both Commodity Market changes and rewards from missions. Credit balances update only with a relog.
    • It was also mentioned to me (thanks Piglet) that:
      • “Fines are also not appearing until you do a relog to main menu. You can be wanted, have outstanding fines but when you go to the administrators office to pay them it says you have no fines. Issue only rectifies when you log out of the game and log back in.”
      • I’ve passed the additional information along which will help further (potentially! I’ll take it!) with the issue, as it sounds like it’s got a high chance of being connected. Even if it’s not, it’d obviously good to look into it.

The common heavy hitters/some fallout from Update 9 across Horizons AND Odyssey (as in, I’ve lumped a bunch together) which are always worthy of noting are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • [Bumped] Issues with the XG9 Lance (targetting and ammo).
  • [Bumped] Tracking down further clarity on issues continuing to be reported around Thermal Conduit.
  • [Bumped] Tracking down further clarity on Anti-Aliasing issue progress.
  • [New] Thargoids fail to use any special attacks in Horizons after the second heart is destroyed (if you’d like to contribute further, it all helps: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/46871)
  • Investigations on reports of performance issues continue.
  • Continued reports of stability issues on console, particularly PS5 but also on Xbox.
  • Starting Frameshift makes the game freeze/lock.
  • Unable to access Session Logs.
  • Disconnect/suspended in Supercruise.
  • Hostile ships appear incorrectly (as non-hostile) on the radar.
  • Commanders are unable to use the Profile Analyser to clone the profile of NPC corpses.
  • Remaining issues with fire groups in Odyssey and Horizons:
    • For example: “Empty fire groups surrounded by populated fire groups do not automatically clear”.
    • Remaining issues around fire groups continue to be logged and investigated internally (thank you for your reports and thoughts!).
  • Empty Facilities lists for Stations in the system map.
  • Inconsistency with Codex entries.
  • “Floating” Guardian Materials at Guardian Sites were sighted and logged.
  • The Scorpion turret remains to be inheriting textures/decals from the ground that dance/parallax across it. Texture movement is at its worst when the SRV itself is in motion.
  • Instances of the Odyssey On-foot tutorial being unable to be completed due to it not finishing.
    • Occasionally, when the player disembarks, the game will display ‘ Board the Dropship’ even though Dylan leaves the port. The player can then go into the concourse of the social space, but nothing will work as it should as they’re not supposed to be here.
  • [Noted] 10 mins prior to Fleet Carrier jump, the dialogue “Jump is Complete” plays.

Commanders, once again, there are more and just as important known issues reported (thank you as always), however I’m just chopping through them one ‘managable chunk at a time’ right now in these posts, so please do continue to understand that I can’t respond to every missing issue from the known issue list, that you’d maybe expect to be there – we’ll dive deeper into more issues along the weeks ahead (top 20 tracker and so on).

Greetings Commanders.

Today at 17:00 UTC / 18:00 BST we implemented a hotfix for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey with the following changes:

  • General stability improvements have been made.
  • General improvements to missions have been made.
  • A further fix for the ‘Orange Sidewinder’ error has been implemented.
  • A fix for cutting the maglock on thin lockers has been implemented.
  • The larceny mission has been enabled.
  • Improvements to the positioning of restriction zones have been made, to prevent trespass on docking.
  • A fix has been implemented for G3 AR-50 with the headshot damage mod being overpowered.
  • When loading Elite Dangerous: Odyssey as an existing Commander with custom control bindings, the on-foot section will now use default key bindings.
  • A fix has been implemented to enable weapon skins to be available in the weapon livery.
  • An issue has been fixed which caused a last embarked ship to be moved back to its previous docked position, when logging out from Odyssey on foot and logging in to the main menu on Horizons.
  • Elite’s Companion API has been re-enabled.

Known issues

  • Applying a livery to the Manticore Oppressor will cause a ‘Black Adder’ error. When logging back in to the game the skin will be applied correctly.
  • When switching back and forth between the weapons and suits tabs in the livery UI, content within will fail to populate correctly. This will be rectified when re-entering the menu.

Thank you, as always for your continued feedback and support.

See you in the black o7

Odyssey – Alpha Phase 3: Hotfix 2

On the 20th April at 2:15pm Frontier released a hotfix for the Phase 3 release. Note: Hotfix 1 was included in the original Phase 2 release.

Greetings Commanders!

At 13:00 UTC / 14:00 BST we released a hotfix to address the following issues in the current phase of the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Alpha.

  • Several stability fixes.
  • Initial improvement made to the DSS when mapping planets for biologicals.
    • Previously players were reporting cases of planets turning fully green in colour once mapped using the DSS, even if there were no geological or biological sources present on the planet’s surface. This issue has now been fixed in the instance of mapping biologicals, but remains under investigation for a future fix in relation to geological data.
    • Biological heatmaps appear more visually accurate, once a planet surface has been mapped.
  • An issue has been fixed whereby some players reported ejection from a planet port after disembarking from their ship.

As always, thank you so much for all of the valuable feedback and thoughts as the Odyssey Alpha continues!

See you in the black! o7
